Hemorrhoids can be a real pain in the...well, you know. Experts estimate that roughly half of all adults will deal with hemorrhoids at some point in their life, and knowledge of what can cause or contribute to the development of this pesky ailment, as well as how to lessen its effects, is essential.

Dont be embarrassed to discuss your hemorrhoid problems with your doctor. By age 50, about half of all Americans will have suffered from hemorrhoids at one time or another. Its a common problem that your doctor has seen before, and it can be very uncomfortable, so dont be afraid to ask for the treatment you need.

As difficult as it may be, it is extremely important for you to resist the urge to scratch and paw at even the itchiest hemorrhoids. While it might provide temporary relief, the act of scratching can actually increase your risk of developing an infection or creating added discomfort and irritation.

The high amount of fiber in whole wheat bread can be the perfect food to add to your diet to reduce your hemorrhoids. Easier bowel movements mean less irritation. So, stock up your bread box and switch to wheat bread.

One of the easiest home treatments to aid in the healing, from the painful burning and itching of hemorrhoids, is a sitz bath. A good recipe for a sitz bath is witch hazel. Fill your tub with warm water and add at least one cup of witch hazel to your water. Sit in this warm mixture for 10-15 minutes, at least three times per day. Within three to four days, your hemorrhoids will be gone.

Although there are a number of medications used to treat hemorrhoids, you may find some relief with homemade remedies. Have a warm, 15-minute soak in a sitz bath, which is especially effective after bowel movements. Try to avoid scratching your hemorrhoids. Try applying some pads that have been dampened with witch hazel for temporary relief when your hemorrhoids are flaring up. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and eat foods that are high in fiber. This will prevent you from needing to strain during your bowel movements.

Exercise

If you are prone to hemorrhoids and you have a job that requires a lot of sitting, then you need to get up and move a few minutes each hour. Exercise is very important in the prevention and treatment of hemorrhoids. Also, you will want to refrain from heavy lifting and anal intercourse to avoid the risk of developing hemorrhoids.

Regular daily exercise may help in the prevention and treatment of hemorrhoids. In our fast-paced world it can be hard to find time to fit exercise into our day but even a little can help. Try using the stairs instead of the elevator at work. Dont do any exercise that would cause straining, like lifting weights.

If you get hemorrhoids it is important to get exercise and move around throughout your day. If you are sedentary, and constantly sitting, you are putting much unneeded pressure on the veins which can become hemorrhoids. If your work is sedentary, get up often and walk around. Keep your lifestyle active to help prevent hemorrhoids!

Nutrition

Over time, daily supplements and vitamins may help manage your hemorrhoids. Supplements and vitamins fill the gaps that your current diet might not be filling. A supplement known as Venapro may be especially beneficial for hemorrhoid reduction and prevention, over time.

Although hemorrhoids can often be a painful, uncomfortable ailment, the good news is that there are steps you can take to manage your symptoms and get the relief that you crave. You now have a solid understanding of factors contributing to the development of hemorrhoids, and what you can do to manage your symptoms.
